This was actually written yesterday, but I had a meeting right before I needed to leave for my haircut, and I didn't have time to post without being late. As it turned out, I wasn't as late as I thought I was going to be, and I still waited, so I could have done it. Oh well... you'll be the only one reading this, Jen, and you don't care, so... here you go:
I know what it is. That doesn't mean I have to like it.
Mortiferousness. Doesn't that just beg to be used in a status update?
Some days you just have to make your own fun. My version is odd, yes. But it's fun for ME.
Great. Now I have that fucking oasis song stuck in my head again.
bubblegum
They just don't blow out, no matter how hard you try. it's a fact.
And his merry men
Because that plotter is smarter than you are, buddy.
You know things are bad when the most exciting part of the plans for your weekend consists of buying everyone rubber boots so they don't sully their shoes with dog crap when it's their turn to hose out the dog's yard.
yes. you. CAN!
She is on them like ... something serious
Have I mentioned how excited I am about the CAB meeting tomorrow? NO?? well, I am.
Admit it. You're bending the space-time continuum, aren't you?
bless your soul, you've got your head in the clouds
I'm pretty sure I need a personal assistant.
motherfucker!
roots. cellar. overheard conversation.
holy shit, it's cold out there!
Well, fuckity. I ordered the wrong damn salad. I've been craving this thing for three weeks. So very bummed.
Wow. Admitting that felt sort of interesting. Insecurity sucks, methinks.
refrain in the membrane
I'm thinking that, since I had such a disappointing lunch, that a coffee is in order for this afternoon's meeting. yup.
NPR can be very entertaining sometimes
I just got 'A Study in Emerald' for free. Thank you, Audible :)
Ugh. Meeting.
And there you have it.
I was happy to go watch softball this weekend. Really. I was. It's the beginning of the season, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the kid has improved over the last year or so. But the cancellation of today's games, and now the cancellation of tomorrow's, is really more to my liking.
I've been crazy busy at work, and I just had a lovely vacation, but I really needed to just un-plan my life and be able to just ... not have plans this weekend.
I adored my weekend with the girls, but I experienced the equivalent of a 3:00 rise time every morning, and the late nights packed on top of those early mornings really seems to have taken it out of me. So the lack of plans suits me just fine for this weekend.
But what is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?
Albert Camus
Yes, it is actually *that* simple. But only if you let it be.
I am well aware that this is not a great shot in any way, but I find it to be very reflective of the natural, everyday me. Little to no makeup, messy hair, dirty glasses - this is my life. And I, quite frankly, love my life. It is not without annoyances. It is not without troubles and worries and concerns. But at the very heart of it, it is good and happy and I am more content than I have ever been, or have ever imagined I could be.
I've reached a point in my life (!) where contentedness is a staple. Happiness is the norm. And I am so very grateful for it that it's difficult to put into words - at least not ones that don't make my best friends roll their eyes at me.

Random Wednesday - the redheaded edition:
We got the clap, she got the clap!
I work with a bunch of hardcore GEEKS, who are currently having a VERY SERIOUS conversation about playing the Powerball ... they're cracking me up.
Yo, Flintsone! Stop with the twitching.
Aaaaand ... the powerball conversation is STILL going on 15 minutes later, only now it's more of an argument than a conversation.
That's a LOT of noise for such a little person.
Stop that. Stop it right now.
I have a song from Sleeping Beauty stuck in my head. Thanks, Mad!
I still think you should have worn a tiara. Just sayin'.
Listen, lady. When you were in London, we were all infinitely happier, because we didn't have to hear about how it was done when you were in London. Go back there, ASAP.
La da da dee, la da da dee, so this is looooove....
Oh, shit.
Well, that was fun.
Legos!
The ridiculously high price of this chair directly equates to how UNcomfortable it is.
sniff
What is UP with the people in this office today? Everyone's gone nuts.
SAMBA!
I recovered pretty quickly, didn't I?
Yeah, that's all I've got for today.

The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal and hasten the resurrection of the dead.
William Lloyd Garrison
Apathy used to be a big thing with me. I was so apathetic in my marriage that there was nothing left worth fighting about.
I don't have that problem any more, and I make a conscious effort every. day. to make sure that I never go back there again. I was not a happy person then. But I am now.

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

Oh well. Maybe I did overdo it. It sure feels like it right now. This was the wrong month to get ambitious, for sure.
Work has finally calmed down, and I'm officially employed instead of a contractor. My relief is palpable. The benefits are spectacular, truly, and I'm looking forward to new projects. And working from home on Thursdays. Hopefully it will end up being 2 days a week - any more than that would decrease my productivity, I'm certain. While I'm better than I used to be, I'm still not perfect, and too much home time would be ... counterproductive.

Is it possible to be a little bit devastated?
I'm trying really, REALLY hard not to be, but ... it's not working out so well for me.
I can't let it go, and I can't make it make sense in the larger scheme of things. It's just so ... out of character. And it's making me wonder things that I should not be wondering. And I'm having a hard time reconciling what I think I know with what I heard.
I've decided, though, to write it down, and then let it go. And hope that I'm horribly, terribly wrong about it all. And that I'll go back and look at what I wrote and be honestly able to tell myself that it was a one-time thing. Because I'll never have to add to the list. It won't become a list, just a one-off. And then I'll sigh in relief and remember how silly I acted over nothing.
